Ministry of Agriculture Collaboration Program, Farmers and Agricultural Counselors Trained to Improve Competence

NATC Batangkaluku - As part of continuously realizing food availability, the Ministry of Agriculture has been initiating the improvement of agricultural human resources as a leverage point for increasing agricultural production and productivity.

One of the pillars that has been able to be supportive is the READSI (Rural Empowerment and Agricultural Development Scaling-up Initiative) Program, which has been able to become one of the empowerment programs that has been implemented for a long time, and various activities have been carried out to improve the welfare of impoverished farming families in the READSI program location area.

In addition, there were efforts to empower the farming households in rural areas, both individually and in groups, with skills, building self-confidence and utilization of resources to increase income from the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors, and to improve their living standards in a sustainable manner.

The training, which aims to increase the competence of Agricultural Counselors in the READSI program area so that they are increasingly qualified to assist their fostered farmers, to increase agricultural productivity and production, is given priority so that Agricultural Counselors can encourage the preparation of farmers in increasing income from the agricultural sector.

Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman has said on various occasions that the world is currently experiencing a food crisis, so the efforts to increase food production cannot be done through ordinary measurements.

"Massive improvements to increasing strategic food production, especially rice. Among other things, the utilization of technology, and farmer assistance through agricultural counselors," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Agricultural Counseling and Human Resources Development Agency (ACHRDA) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dedi Nursyamsi, said that the agricultural sector plays a very important role with various aspects, including agricultural counselors and farmers, who are ready to support agricultural development.

"Farmers must be empowered and become great with this READSI. How to empower farmers so that they can use innovations and maintain infrastructure so that their productivity increases, and infrastructure facilities have a longer lifespan. Therefore, empowerment must be able to work properly," he said.

Farmers, as food producers, are expected to be the first parties to have adequate food security. One of the efforts to ensure this is the necessity of organizing Food Budgeting Training for farmers in the READSI target area.

In connection with this matter, the READSI Program is collaborating with National Agricultural Training Center (NATC) of Batangkaluku as one of the Training Centers TIU - the Agricultural Counseling and Human Resources Development Agency (ACHRDA) to carry out Food Budgeting Training for Agricultural Counselors and the Village Facilitators of the READSI Program.

It is necessary to be aware that the Food Budgeting Training for Agricultural Counselors and the Village Facilitators of the READSI Program is carried out at 5 different locations of the READSI program, namely NATC Batangkaluku, Animal Husbandry Training Center (AHTC) Kupang, TIU for Agricultural Training of the Department of Food Crops and Horticulture of Central Sulawesi Province, RTIU of Human Resources Development Center of Southeast Sulawesi Province, and TIU for Agricultural Training of the Department of Food Crops and Horticulture of Gorontalo Province.
