Welcoming the “Jamu as the Nation's Identity” Program, Ginger Agribusiness Training at the Ministry of Agriculture's TIU in South Sulawesi

NATC Batangkaluku - To supports the "Jamu as Nation's Identity" program, the National Agricultural Training Center (NATC) of Batangkaluku as one of the TIU of the Agricultural Counseling and Human Resources Development Agency (ACHRDA) of the Ministry of Agriculture, conducted Ginger Agribusiness Training for Agricultural Counselors, Tuesday (30/04/2024).

This training is intended to improve the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of Agricultural Counselors in ginger agribusiness to increase the sustainable agricultural productivity to improve the welfare of the farmers.

In this context, the Head of ACHRDA, Dedi Nursyamsi, said that the key to achieving success in agricultural development is none other than increasing the productivity.

"The objective is to provide food for 280 million people of Indonesia, improve the welfare of the farmers and to boost exports," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of NATC Batangkaluku, Muhammad Sidiq in his speech said that the “Jamu as Nation's Identity” program is a program that has been agreed upon by National Development Planning Agency (or known as Bappenas) and the House of Representatives.

"The program is intended to elevate and promote jamu as an integral and valuable part of Indonesia's unique cultural heritage. Jamu, a traditional herbal-based medicine system that has been used for centuries, not only represents local wisdom, but also possesses significant economic potential," he said.

Muhammad Sidiq added that the Ginger Agribusiness Training was not only designed as a learning forum, but also as a platform to share experiences and technical knowledge on ginger cultivation and marketing.

"Just like any other commodities, ginger plants also have several technical challenges, ranging from field preparation to post-harvesting, which we need to overcome together. So, it is necessary to get an introduction and experience through training on how to do a proper ginger agribusiness to achieve optimal results in quality, quantity, and continuity," he explained.

The training activities lasted for 7 (seven) days and were attended by participants from all provinces in Sulawesi, and were divided into 2 (two) batches, for each batch consisting of 30 (thirty) participants. The training methods used consisted of lectures, discussions, practices, simulations, demonstrations, and other methods.
